Stress Is The Number One Killer

Are you stressed?  Then you need to read this. It can be argued that Stress is the number 1 killer - not heart disease - take a few minutes and think about what stress does….  In the USA it has been found to be the primary contributing factor to the six leading causes of death; accidental injuries, cancer, cirrhosis, coronary heart disease, respiratory disorders and suicide.  Think about your actions when you are stressed - you make mistakes, maybe you eat too much, eat too little, sleepless nights, drink too much, smoke too much and so on. When you start looking at it in that way it is easy to see why it might actually be no 1.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health chronic, unresolved stress can damage our immune, digestive and reproductive systems and disrupt sleep and so that it why it has been linked to chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, obesity, acne, eczema, anxiety and so on.

According to the Meridian Stress Management Consultancy nearly 180,000 in the UK die each year from some form of stress related illness!

When we are under regular stress or anxiety, the body produces hormones that can suppress our immune systems therefore making us more prone to illness. (time to find your inner CHILL 🙃 ).  Stress can lead to making poor choices regarding diet, exercise and sleep.  As we know, it is impossible to avoid stress altogether, but it is something we can try and manage to our best ability.

Daily exercise, meditation, reducing caffeine and alcohol, eating clean and whole foods as well as using our favourite oils are all ways we can limit stress.

Aromatherapy can be so useful because it requires nothing else except to breathe……

The Adaptiv or Balance is my go to for this. 🥰 They are both my absolute favourites for the diffuser and I always carry it on me to apply as soon as I feel those overwhelming feelings creeping in. Adaptiv is soothing and uplifting which is exactly why it is made for times like these! Balance is calming and grounding - great either alone or together.

I set reminders on my phone to stop and breathe and I do that, I grab and oil and stop and breathe and I grab one of the touch rollers I have of these blends to do just that.
